Being good at your job isn’t enough
Read time: 4 mins
Today’s spotlight:
You’re doing good work.
So why does it feel like no one sees it?
The reality? Doing great work isn’t enough.
If you want to stand out, you need to be intentional about how you communicate, how you show up, and how you make an impact.
1. Your ideas matter
Staying quiet might feel safe, but it won’t get you noticed.
If you have a perspective, share it. If you’ve done something great, own it.
You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room, but you do need to make sure your voice is heard.
2. Visibility isn’t vanity
People can’t recognise your value if they don’t know what you’re doing.
That project you led? The results you delivered? Make sure they’re on the radar.
Keep key people in the loop, share wins (big and small), and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself.
3. Relationships create opportunities
Success isn’t just about what you know it’s about who knows you.
Build connections. Support others. Be known as someone who delivers, but also as someone people want to work with.
The right relationships can open doors you didn’t even know existed.
4. Stop waiting
Waiting for someone to notice your hard work is a gamble.
Take ownership of your career. Ask for feedback. Put yourself forward for opportunities.
The more you step up, the more you’ll be seen.
You’re already putting in the effort. Now, make sure it counts.
Happy Monday x
